I love to be organized, but you wouldn’t know it if you saw my craft supplies. I am forever desperately in search of great craft supply organization ideas.
Sure, I could go to Ikea and pick up everything I’d need to organize my craft supplies. But, I’m my Grandma’s girl and she and I had a thing for reusing stuff other people might have thrown away. I will probably always love the idea of taking something that’s destined for the dump and trying to find a way to make it new again. Makes me feel close to her. 🙂
Remember when we all had to have black wrought iron accessories in our homes? Now all that stuff is in thrift stores. Loads of it. Here are a couple I bought for a couple bucks.
I decided to paint them a soft pink, distress them a little with fine grit sandpaper, and dress them up with some leftover rhinestone tape I bought in the dollar bins at Michael’s.
I used the Mason Jars I’d painted prior in place of the glass cups. I love the pastel colors.
I saw this desktop organizer for 1.99 at Goodwill and bought it to use exactly as it was intended. But, I didn’t really have use for it that way after all. So, I flipped it on it’s side and now it holds my craft paints.
The frame was also from a thrift store. I painted over the dark wood with my fave color. At some point soon, I have plans for it.
And, finally my precious Sharpies & markers. They are my treasures. 🙂 I had a gift box that was taking up space and a bunch of toilet paper rolls I’d been saving. (I might have a hoarding problem!) I organized them inside the box by color, inserting them in the cardboard rolls.
I love to rescue old books that are falling apart, and so I had a book cover from a dictionary for kids that has definitely seen some use. It’s so beat up that it may not appeal to most people, but I love it. The idea that it’s been touched by countless little hands over decades just makes me happy.
I covered it in Chalk Anything (two coats), primed it by rubbing chalk all over it, and decided that for now it’s going to hide my Sharpie babies. 🙂
