My kids and I love making crafts with an old baby food jar. Today, we made these fun Halloween crafts!
We made a couple of cute little decorations to keep around our house. We are just itching to decorate for Halloween! We decided to make a witch jar craft and a spider jar craft. Here’s how we did it!
Halloween Crafts for Kids
This was a really fun project that kids loved being a part of. Plus, it’s really simple to do!
- Baby food jars
- Small Halloween decorations
- Tacky glue or hot glue
We decided on our paint colors first, the kiddos chose purple and orange. To coat our jars with the paint, we put them in small dishes and added a couple drops of water. Loosening up the paint makes it SO much easier.
We went outside to do our painting. We will sure be sad when the weather gets too cold and we have to paint indoors.
Pour the paint into the jar and turn it and twist it so it’s completely covered in paint. Then, sit it upside down onto a piece of paper or a towel to get all the extra out.
While our paint was drying, we went out to find a few small decorations to glue on top. The kids picked a spider and a witch hat – perfect! The ones we chose had a clip attached to them, but they easily popped off.
We painted the lids of the jars black and then decided to add a little sparkle wrapping it with glitter washi tape.
Then, glue your witch hat or spider or whatever decoration you choose to the top. We used tacky glue only because I couldn’t for the life of me find my glue gun! Hot glue would have worked better only because of how fast it dries. We had to be really careful with the tacky glue that we don’t touch it until it was totally dry.
With every Halloween craft we make we are getting more excited for Halloween! What crafts are you making?
